I’m thrilled to finally say that my sister’s horses (plus Buzz) safely made the long journey to Auckland, leaving me with just Oscar to focus my time and energy on. So far we’ve been to the beach, out hacking and begun working on our flatwork again.
I also discovered that Oscar is actually grass affected and have since pulled him off grass almost completely, and begun supplementing his hard feed with a mycotoxin binder. The changes in my horse has left me wondering why I didn’t do this earlier, though to be fair I couldn’t afford to have a horse off grass when I had four at once.
The difference between owning one horse, and owning multiple horses is enormous – I’m definitely a one-horse kinda girl being a wholly recreational as opposed to career rider. I have more time, money, resources and energy and therefore I’m more motivated to ride, have more purpose and a bit more ambition to do all the things too. I’ll update with more on Oscar and I soon enough, right now Louis and I are working on something quite huge and exciting which is almost ready to be revealed.
